100% verifications are a thing of the past. In 2021-27, the concept of risk management will take a prevalent role in the functioning of the internal control systems of MAs and IBs. Here we introduce the major changes and provide a definition of risk

Internal Audit: Basic principles to share for all-round risk management and better management quality (inc. WORKSHOP)

As part of risk management, controllers need to understand the governance framework of the Beneficiaries to whom funds are entrusted. We introduce methods typically used by internal auditors in preparing the audit universe, compiling the risk register and designing the audit plan of action to mitigate risk.

The risk of fraud is a major concern for the EU, so much that effective and proportionate mitigating measures are a key requirement of the management and control systems. Here we take a look at fraud, its incidence in EU funds and the common measures against it.
